I wonder why Leroux didn't make Erik Scandinavian. He would have had one more thing in common with Christine.

When Christine asks Erik if he is Scandinavian, he says he doesn't have a country & chose the name by accident.

I doubt Christine would have been wrong about Erik being a Scandinavian name, after all she's trying to impress her ex-teacher into letting her leave, not make him think she needs to stay longer for history lessons.
