The Empire Opera House, located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, has always been a place of hopes and dreams. Artists from miles around visit to pursue careers in one of the country's best performing companies. The past year has been a period of chaos for the opera house. Along with obtaining a new lead soprano and tenor-and giving in to their outrageous demands-the management has had to put up with a ghost. At least, that is what he is calling himself. A few times a week mysterious notes have appeared in the managers' office providing suggestions for the current production or instructions on the cast. In addition the 'ghost' demanded a salary of five hundred dollars a month and box five reserved for his use.

The management doubted this 'ghost' that provided instructions and demanded money, yet soon began to give into his demands due to the 'accidents' around the opera house and the voice whispering in the ears of patrons in box five. The two managers retired a month ago, and now Mr. Richard Firmin and Mr. James Moncharmin are in charge. They have no intentions at all to listen to the 'ghost's' demands.

With the change in management comes the continued support of the Chagny family. Raoul Chagny, youngest son of Chagny Medical Supplies, has grown quite close to his childhood friend, Christine Daaé. Christine claims that she is being taught by the Angel of Music that her father had promised her upon his death. But the entire cast, especially these two budding lovers, will have their worlds turned upside down by the devotion of this 'Angel of Music'.
