This is the cast recording that puts the rest in the shade. If you think, How can they do Phantom in Japanese? Well, this is how it is done. (I can't name the cast members for you, all in Japanese writing!) The Christine has a lovely voice, one of the best on all the recordings. The Perros section is gorgeous as they include all of it from "In sleep..." through to the Phantom's "Don't go...". The Phantom himself does have a strong voice, a better appearance behind the mirror than that given by Mikael, also a better Angel and he can actually pronounce "Christine" unlike Raoul and Meg who have an understandable problem with "r"s. The Japanese have no words for "The Phantom of the Opera", "Angel of Music" or "I love you" (apparently), which may sound rather strange for a while until you get used to it. The Don Juan rehearsal section is missing, so the second Manager's leads straight into the Perros scene. One of the best Masquerades as well, something that really has to be listened to. I can even visualise this Phantom in his Red Death costume so he MUST be good. The Final Lair lives up to all expectations that the rest of this cast recording will have given you, powerful and passionate Phantom, sweet little Christine and a Raoul who is a total prat! What more do you want? This is an amazing recording and if you ever have the opportunity to buy it then, BUY IT !!
