Many fans have seen press articles which mention that Peter Karrie was voted "the world's favourite Phantom," and have wanted more information about the poll.
At its height, the Phantom Appreciation Society's magazine, Beneath the Mask, was read by over 300 people, including subscribers from around the world and people who picked up the zine at Dress Circle in London. With Issue 10 a survey was included, asking readers about their favourite performers in various roles.
In 1994, Peter Karrie and Claire Moore were voted the favourite Phantom and Christine. In the second poll, Peter Karrie was the favourite Phantom, with Michael Crawford in second place. Claire Moore was the favourite Christine, with Sarah Brightman, Lisa Hull and Nikki Ankara joint second. Simon Burke and Mike Sterling were the favourite Raouls.
These polls were conducted by collection written responses, not email or web sites (where it is far easier to vote many times!).
